Update - Giveaway, Where I've Been, What's to Come, Etc ...

Hey guys!

I decided to do a quick update post to let you know what's on the go with me, where I've been, etc, etc.

First off, just a reminder that my giveaway ends on November 25th at midnight so if you haven't already entered, be sure to do so!

Second, I want to apologize for not being around as much as I should/as much as I would like to be. Last week, this week and the weeks to come until the semester ends are brutal for me. I have exams and papers coming out the ass so I barely have time to do anything at all. In fact, I didn't even paint my nails last night which marks the first time in many months that I haven't been able to do my nails twice in one week. :( This may seem silly but it's actually a big deal for me because I don't particularly like leaving a design on for more than a few days.

Oh and on top of all that, I'm trying to get all of my holiday shopping done because I hate crowds and want to avoid the crazy holiday shoppers as much as I possibly can.

Nonetheless, I promise to be back full force within the next few weeks and I'll make up for my lack of posting. Until then though you can continue to enjoy my nail art posts since that's pretty much all that I will be posting until the semester ends.

Lastly, I want to thank you guys so much for all of your support so far. I have almost tripled my number of followers in the last couple of weeks and to celebrate, I'll be doing another giveaway as soon as my current one ends! I won't tell you guys what the prize is now because I don't want to spoil it but let's just say that I'm having a hard time not keeping it for myself!

Anyway, I'm off to study some Cognitive Psychology.
Have a good day!

Oh and also, I recently signed up for twitter (I know, I'm quite late jumping on that train) so come follow me!
I don't even know how to use the bloody thing yet but I'll figure it out.

Review & Swatches - OPI Burlesque Collection

I went to Chatter's today looking for the OPI Burlesque Collection and I was in luck because they had just, and I mean just gotten it in. Seriously, the delivery truck was pulling out of the parking lot as I was pulling in. And, since I'm well known there (because I buy ridiculous amounts of nail polish), the girls working knew exactly what I was looking for so they were nice enough to actually find the boxes with Burlesque in them and open everything for me. I was ecstatic!

I don't really have the time to do full swatches of the entire collection so I decided to just use a nail wheel to show you swatches.

Review - LA Splash Splash Proof Eyeshadow Sealer/Base

I impulsively picked up this eyeshadow base the last time I was at Lawton's solely for the purpose of doing a review on it. It wasn't too expensive and I thought that everyone who uses makeup is always looking for a great eyeshadow base, especially when it's cheap.

Photobucket

Pros:
• The applicator has a really long wand which offers great control
• Eyeshadow really sticks to the formula
• It's clear so it doesn't interfere with the colours of your shadows and you can easily use colours that are more sheer without any base colour showing through
• It has definite staying power
• It's very inexpensive ($6.99)
• Eyeshadows stay true to colour and aren't muted
• Doesn't crease your shadow

Cons:
• The smell is not the most pleasant - it smells like some sort of medicated ointment
• It's actually a little too sticky and it feels a little like you're putting glue on your eyelid
• If you're working with pigments and you don't allow the base long enough to dry the pigment kind of clumps up into the stickiness of the product

Overall, this base really isn't that bad, especially for the price. My biggest complaint is that it's a little too sticky but as long as you're willing to give it a little time to get used to, this could be a really good product for everyday use.

The only place I've seen this brand is at Lawton's Drug Mart but that's probably just due to the area I live in - it can probably be bought in other locations that just aren't available to me.

FCKH8 Nails

Today's very simple manicure is inspired by the FCKH8 video on youtube. I absolutely love this video, I love the significance of it and I love the aggressive approach that it takes. I've already ordered my FCKH8 t-shirt and I think I'm also going to get the new ST8 AGAINST H8 one as well.

If you haven't already seen this video, do it now! And pass it along!

Press Release - Nicole by OPI Justin Bieber Inspired Collection

Yeah, you read it right, Nicole by OPI is releasing a collection inspired by teen pop star Justin Beiber called The One Less Lonely Girl Collection.

I don't know what to say about this except that I just don't get it! Where's the connection between Bieber and nail polish? The only reason I can come up with for releasing this collection is that Nicole by OPI is trying to reach out to the younger audience of girls who shop at places like Wal-Mart and they'll be inclined to buy this collection because of the association with Beiber. I understand this reasoning but it still seems a bit ridiculous to me.
Katy Perry, I understand; Serena Williams, I understand; Justin Beiber, I do not understand.

Nonetheless, some of the colours being released do look pretty so if I'm going to be completely honest I might as well admit that I'll probably still buy some of the shades despite the strange inspiration behind the collection.
The first 6 shades of the collection (pictured below) will be released in December while a subsequent launch will release in January.

Photobucket

Left to right:
One Less Lonely Glitter
Prized Possession Purple
Give Me the First Dance
Me + Blue
OMB!
Step 2 the Beat of My Heart

What do you think about this collection? Does it seem strange to anyone else?
