Review & Swatches - Nerds Candy Scented Nail Polish

Hey!

Like I said in my previous post, I picked up 2 of the candy scented nail polish sets - Nerds and Runts. This post is my review and swatches of the Nerds set. You can check out my review and swatches of the Runts set here.

The formula on these is pretty much exactly the same as that of the Runts polishes - it glided on smoothly and many of them were opaque in 2 coats (although I used 3 for each in my swatches). They all felt the same in regards to thickness (which was pretty good) but a couple did have a tendency to look streaky (especially Wild Berry).

In the package these appear to have a creme finish but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they actually have a very pretty frost finish!

The brush is wide enough to pick up a good amount of colour which is something I have a problem with when it comes to small nail polish bottles so that's a plus.

The whole set was $6.99 which works out to about $1.16 per bottle of polish and that's a pretty good deal.

You'll notice that the colours are pretty similar to the colours of the Runts polishes and while that is true, there are clear differences between some. For example, the blue shade from the Runts set is much darker than the one from the Nerds set. As well, the pink shade from the Nerds set is darker than the one in the Runts set. In fact, with the exception of the 2 yellow shades which are VERY similar (although they have different scents), the other colours are all different from their friends of the same colour family from the Runts set.

And finally, the most exciting thing about these polishes: they smell SO good! Much like the Runts ones, after smelling them in the bottle I didn't think they would ever smell like candy but once dry, they really do! The smell is still evident after top coat, too. My favourite smells out of this bunch are Wild Berry and Watermelon while my favourite colours are Watermelon and Lemonade Coated Wild Cherry.

Overall, these polishes are pretty ok! I wasn't expecting much out of them but the colours are pretty and they're fun to smell. :)

What do you guys think? Which set do you prefer - the Runts or the Nerds?

  1. The Runts polishes are more standard rainbow colours, so I prefer the Nerds, also I've never even heard of Runts...
