Top 10 Polishes - Part 1

Hey guys!

A while back a friend of mine and fellow Newfoundland nail blogger Rebecca, did a Top 10 post that showcased her all-time favourite polishes, and ever since I have been meaning to do the same thing.
It's taken me so long to actually do this post because I honestly just thought that it would be too difficult for me to pick only 10 out of my approximately 700 polishes! But I've put a lot of thought into this and I was actually able to narrow it down.

One of the ways I was able to narrow it down is by determining whether or not I would wear a shade alone, without any nail art. I pretty much always have nail art on but every once in a while I'll come across a colour that is so special that I'll actually forego the nail art and wear the shade alone. This doesn't happen often but the shades that I have listed below are all shades that I would wear on their own.

This post is part 1 of 2 and in this one I'll count down from 10-6. Enjoy!

10. Joe Fresh - Twilight
I only got this polish recently but it quickly made its way into my Top 10. It's one of only two flakie polishes in my collection and I can certainly understand why these types of polishes are so popular. This one is a black jelly base with green, orange, and yellow flakies. The formula is great and the price is very reasonable ($3-4). For additional information on this polish, see my swatch/review of it here.

9. Milani - Red Sparkle
As a general rule I love glitter polishes but the entire Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter Collection only strengthened my love for glitters. These glitters have a depth to them that really makes them special and although it was hard to choose between all of them, Red Sparkle won out as my favourite. The formula is excellent, it's completely opaque in 2 coats and it's just gorgeous. For more information about this polish and the rest of the Rockstar Heavy Glitter Collection, see my swatches and review here.

8. Color Club - Magic Attraction
Like I said above, I love glitter polishes. I also love holographic polishes. So put those 2 loves together and it's pure bliss for me. Color Club Magic Attraction was released with the Glitter Vixen Collection and it is silver and mega holographic glitter scattered in a clear base. The formula is good although it did take 3 thick coats to get the opacity you'll see below. However, if I were to wear this on my nails, I would probably layer it over a silver polish so that I wouldn't have to use as many coats. In my swatches below this might look like a multi-coloured glitter polish but make no mistake, all those colours you see are the holographic particles dancing around in the light! It's awesome!

7. China Glaze - 2Nite
Oh the OMG! Collection. I only have 3 of the shades from this coveted collection and I'm seriously lemming the rest of the shades. I love this shade of blue and I love linear holos so this is an all around win for me. Plus, the formula is excellent and it was opaque in 2 coats.

6. OPI - Gargantuan Green Grape
Although there isn't anything overly special about this polish, I simply love the colour. It's just the absolute perfect shade of light green in my opinion. It's a jelly formula so it's a tad sheer but it's still opaque in 3 coats and it glides on beautifully.

Thank you for putting together a list of polishes that are fairly easy to get (except the holos these days are crazy!)

  5. Just 2! (Which does mean that it doesn't live up to its name of a "One Coat Glitter" but the colour is so awesome and the formula is so great that I'm not bothered by it personally.)

  6. yay!!

I've never seen Magic Attraction before and now I NEED IT.
WHY did I force myself to not buy every single Color Club set that showed up here that time?!

I picked up 2 bottles of Twilight last night BTW, Mount Pearl Dominion had a shit load. The cashier who checked me out was like I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW DOES IT HAVE ALL THOSE COLORS?!

  7. I went to Dominion to get the Joe matte top coat and came across twilight to get the 3 for 10$ deal. So my other two polishes for the deal were twilight. :)
