I recently picked up both of Essie's new Summer 2011 collections and I'm going to show you the smaller of them today. Based on the shade names, this one seems to have a safari-type theme and it includes softer, more muted shades than the other Summer collection - Brazilliant, which you'll be seeing swatches of soon as well.
Keep reading for swatches and the review!
Fair Game (dark steel blue with silver shimmer)
This is a pretty colour but it's not totally unique or anything. It applied really nicely and was opaque in 2 coats but it can look a little brush stroke-y.
Your Hut or Mine? (bright coral-pink with shimmer)
I'm not huge on pink shades so I didn't expect to like this one as much I do but the pretty shimmer really makes it much better. The shimmer is predominantly gold but there's also some fuchsia in there as well. Also, it turns out that my camera was trying to make this shade appear brighter than it actually is so the swatch of this colour is a little off - it's closer to the bottle colour in reality. I had no application issues and it only required 2 coats.
Da Bush (light murky khaki green cream)
I thought that this one would be my favourite of the four shades and I was right. You all know that I like kind of dirty, bordering-on-being-ugly shades and this is one of those. And I know what you're thinking, that this looks similar to OPI Stranger Tides from the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection and I'll try to get a comparison of the two shades for you asap. This is the only shade of the four without any shimmer and it still applied beautifully and was opaque in 2 coats.
Lion Around (soft pink with subtle shimmer)
Again, I'm not huge on pinks but there's two things about this shade that make it different than your average soft pink: it's kind of murky looking and it also has that very subtle white shimmer that pops every once in a while when the light hits it just right. Once again, no application issues and it was opaque in 2 coats.

Overall, this is a nice collection but there's nothing totally unique or new. The formula was excellent for all of these (which is what I have come to expect from Essie) and all of them were opaque in 2 coats. I do always love 4 colour collections though because it satisfies the polish addiction and you can buy the whole collection without feeling like you've totally splurged.
