Swatch Comparison - Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday vs. Wet 'n' Wild Party of 5 Glitters vs. Milani Gems

Hey guys!

Some of you might remember that a few months ago I posted this comparison of Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday and Wet 'n' Wild's Party of 5 Glitters. Well, I now own Milani Gems as well, which is yet another supposed Happy Birthday dupe so I thought it would be appropriate to add a comparison of that as well.

Keep reading to see the comparison!

The glitter is much denser in the Lippmann polish than the Wet 'n' Wild one but only slightly denser than the Milani polish. However, adding a third coat to each of the less dense ones would make them about equal in regards to glitter density.

Some differences in regard to the colour of the glitters is that Party of 5 Glitters doesn't have any gold glitter pieces in it while both Happy Birthday and Gems do. Also, Party of 5 Glitters doesn't have smaller silver glitter pieces, only larger ones while both Happy Birthday and Gems have both. One of the only differences in this regard between Happy Birthday and Gems is that Gems is missing the smaller square glitter pieces that Happy Birthday has. However, all of these minor differences will probably be barely noticeable on the nails.

I don't particularly like the brush for any of the polishes so that didn't really matter to me. I found the Lippmann and Milani brushes to be a little too thin and the Wet 'n' Wild brush felt too stiff.

The price difference between these 3 polishes is pretty crazy. The Wet 'n' Wild polish is $2.84 at Wal-Mart, the Milani polish is $4.99 on Milani's website, while the cheapest I've seen the Lippmann polish for is about $18 on eBay.

So if you missed out on Happy Birthday or if you just don't want to shell out that much for one polish, Party of 5 Glitters is a great alternative, while Gems is practically a dupe.

  2. I know how you feel, I'd still want Happy Birthday if I didn't have it, haha. I think it's partly because I love glitter and partly because I'm a polish hoarder. :P

  12. I think I commented on one of your posts before that I thought the Milani was the party of 5 glitters. Thank you for the comparison because now I take it back. There is definitely noticeable differences.

With that said, is it bad that I want all three now?

  13. Since I can't find Mad as a Hatter for under 60 bucks, I'd settle for one of these.

  16. I have Wet n' Wild Party of Five and I love it! Such a good deal and dupe. I actually like that it is less dense, if you use it as a layer over all fingers it isn't WOW glitter but it's still there. Love this comparison post though, thanks for doing it.

  17. I've been wanting Happy Birthday for a long time. I went to Ulta the other day and saw Pinata yada yada and I bought it thinking it would be a great dupe. I went home and put it on the shelf with my other glitters just to see I had Gems and completely forgot about it! I haven't compared them, but I'm thinking it's pretty close.
