Swatch Comparison - China Glaze Metro Collection: Skyscraper

Hey guys!

So now that I've finished with my comparisons of the OPI Nice Stems Collection, I'm moving onto comparisons for China Glaze's Fall 2011 Metro Collection. This is a large 12 piece collection which means there's going to be a lot of comparison posts, so bear with me as I work my way through all of the shades.

I'm going to go in the same order that I did with my swatches so I'll be starting with the Downtown set and the first shade that I swatched from that set is Skyscraper - a medium blue jelly base with silver and blue glitter throughout.

I found a number of blue glitters throughout my stash but many of them were not really comparable (some were more teal, some had different coloured glitters running throughout them, etc) and so the only ones I ended up thinking were suitable for a comparison were also by China Glaze.

Keep reading for the comparison!

China Glaze Meteor Shower, China Glaze Skyscraper, China Glaze Dorothy Who?

First off, I just want to point out that China Glaze really does know how to make a good glitter polish. All 3 of these were easy to work with and they're all gorgeous.

Dorothy Who? is close to Skyscraper in description since it's also a medium blue jelly base with blue and silver glitter throughout. However, Dorothy Who? is a brighter medium blue than Skyscraper and Skyscraper has much more silver glitter than Dorothy Who? in which blue is the dominant colour of glitter. Furthermore, the jelly base of Skyscraper is a little more sheer than that of Dorothy Who? which allows the glitter to show through more.

Meteor Shower is pretty different from Skyscraper in almost all respects except that it's a blue jelly base with glitter. However, the base is much darker and more opaque than that of Skyscraper. Additionally, the glitter is multi-coloured instead of just blue and silver like in Skyscraper.

It looks like we're off to a good start because Skyscraper is a unique addition to my collection.

What do you guys think? Can you think of any other shades that might be comparable to China Glaze Skyscraper?

  1. Meteor Shower is coming to me: come to me, my beauty *____*
Scyscraper is already on my wishlist ;D
Dorothy who didnt' catch my attention, instead :/

  2. I left you some blog awards on my page!

  3. Skyscraper looks like a lighter, blinged out version of Essie Starry Starry Night...of course I've never seen SSN in person but from the pictures I've seen, Skyscraper looks like it could be SSN's younger, more glittery sister. Great comparison, thanks!

  4. My friend who works at professional bought be a bottle of skyscraper as a gift. Loves her, and I love the polish. Its so very pretty. From what I've seen of the collection it is my favorite.

  5. I just got skyscraper last week and LOVE it. It was the only one from the Metro Collection that I HAD to have. Thanks for these comparisons~

  6. I LOVE these polishes!! Thanks so much for sharing!! I love glitter! Can't wait to get these :)

  7. Great comparison I love meteor shower.

  8. Love the new metro collection Skyscraper. It's the first I got from the new collection and does not disappoint at all. I am loving the new fatigued denim look it gives us.

  9. Something new to hunt for, thank you.

  10. i want meteor shower soooo badly right now, you don't even understand..i'm fanning myself over it

  11. I got Dorothy Who? because it felt like everyone else had it so it was one of those 'needed' polishes in a collection, but I'm not in love. I really want to get Skyscrapper but it's now taken a back seat to Meteor Shower...which I just ordered off amazon.

  12. Thanks for this comparison! Just what I was looking for :)

  13. Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you're living?
