Comparison - OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees Suede vs. China Glaze Stone Cold + New Camera!

Hey guys!

First off, is anyone else having trouble with blogger not publishing scheduled posts? Most days it works for me but there's been a few days, today included, that I've scheduled my posts the night before and then they're not published when I check the next day. Maybe I'm doing something wrong in my sleepy state before I go to bed, but I don't think so.

Anyways, today's post is a comparison using a polish that I used in one of my most recent manicures - OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees Suede.

I used Suzi Skis Suede as the base colour for this funky french and I thought to myself that Stone Cold from the recent China Glaze Colours from the Capitol Collection might be a dupe. And since the OPI Suedes are discontinued, it would be worthwhile to find a currently available alternative.

The verdict: They're very similar, only Stone Cold is a touch darker than Suzi Skis. Though, I think they're close enough that if you have one, you don't need the other. Formula wise, they're similar, but Stone Cold is a bit thicker than Suzi Skis. I used two coats for each, but you can actually get away with just one since they're both so easily opaque.

So, if you've been looking to complete your OPI Suede Collection but you already have China Glaze Stone Cold, I'd say don't bother with Suzi Skis Suede.

Also, I have something exciting to share! My university graduation ceremony is at the end of the month and as a graduation gift, my dad was very generous and offered to get me a new camera!

The one I'm using now is actually a pretty good little camera and I've gotten several years of use out of it, but the motor in the lens is starting to wear out and it's missing a lot of the features that I would like to have in a camera (it doesn't even have a white balance setting, for example).

So, I did some research and talked to a camera store clerk in my area about my camera needs and I decided to go with the Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm lens.

Isn't she a beaut? I haven't started using it for nail photos yet since I want to get acquainted with it and read the manual first, but hopefully you'll be seeing a difference in my photos soon!

And finally, one last thing! Today is the final day to vote in the Bundle Monster nail art contest! So if you have a spare moment, I'd appreciate your votes! If you've already been voting for me, thanks so much!

  1. thanks! when I saw your funky french, I thought it was Stone Cold. since I have stone cold, I don't need OPI! yay! haha
also yay new camera!! ..can I make a suggestion, get a filter for your lens! I don't think they are THAT expensive, but they protect your lens from scratches, etc. It's easier to replace a filter than it is a lens! enjoy your new toy!

  3. I have that camera! I love it, it works extremly well for me. Also, I agree with Emily, a filter is a really good thing to invest in. I got mine for like 10 or 20 I think and I forget what it's called but it protects against uv rays and makes colors more vivid!

  9. Not dupes but they sure are close. I wish you would have put on top coat to show how they look shiny next to one another as well. Thanks for the comparison.
