I have been so caught up swatching indie polishes lately that I haven't reviewed any full collections in ages! Well, today I have the Fall 2012 China Glaze On Safari Collection to show you!
These colours are definitely a change of pace from the bright colours and blinding neons that I've been sporting lately, but it's good to switch things up every once in a while!
This post is super picture-heavy, so I've included most of the photos after the jump so as not to clog up my front page. Enjoy!
Adventure Red-y is a slightly brown-toned red creme. It's super opaque and my swatch is just one coat. The formula was smooth and very easy to work with.
Call of the Wild is a rich, dark brown creme. This was one of the thicker cremes, but it was still easy to work with. My swatch is two coats.
Desert Sun is a butterscotch creme shade. The colour reminds me of Werther's Originals! Anyone else get that vibe? Anyways, this colour doesn't work very well with my skin, but it's something that's unique to my collection and it might be good for nail art some time in the future. The formula was good and my swatch is two coats.
Elephant Walk is a light grey with very subtle shimmer. The formula for this one was the worst of the bunch for me, but even then it wasn't bad. I just find that greys like this one with the hint of shimmer have a hard time self-leveling for some reason. I had the same issues with Pelican Grey from the Anchors Away Collection. My swatch is two coats.
Exotic Encounters is a teal creme that leans mostly on the green side. I really don't think I own a colour quite like this! The formula was great and my swatch is two coats.
I Herd That is a mix of fine gold, copper and holographic glitter in a clear base. Because the glitter is so fine, this polish applies really nicely and it has good glitter coverage. My swatch is just two coats and it's just about opaque. I've also included a flash photo below to show off the holo glitter.
I'm Not Lion is a mix of pale gold, silver and holographic glitter in a clear base. Just as with I Herd That, the formula was really great and my swatch is two coats. And again, I've included a flash photo to show off the holo glitter.
Jungle Queen is one of those dusty, grey, smokey purple shades with the subtle shimmer. It's supposedly similar to Chanel Paradoxal. Personally, these types of shades just aren't for me, but I know a lot of people love them. The formula was good and my swatch is two coats.
Kalahari Kiss is a light yellow-beige creme. I'm a big fan of this shade and I don't think I have anything else quite like it. The formula was one of the thicker ones, but it was easy to work with. My swatch is two coats.
Man Hunt is a royal blue creme. I've said for ages now that I don't have a go-to royal blue shade in my stash. Well, now I do! This is a great colour with a great formula to go along with it. My swatch is two coats.
Prey Tell is a dark, vampy brown-burgundy creme. The formula was good and my swatch is two coats.
Purr-fect Plum is a dark, berry coloured creme. I actually like this one a lot more than I expected to, but I probably already have something just like it in my stash. Nonetheless, the formula was really good and my swatch is two coats.
Overall, I'm rather pleased with this collection! There's a good variety of colours and finishes and there's quite a few shades that are unique to my collection. My favourites include Exotic Encounters, I Herd That, I'm Not Lion, Kalahari Kiss and Man Hunt.
The On Safari Collection is available now, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding it.
What do you guys think of the On Safari Collection? Is this a good start to the Fall 2012 collections?
