Before I show you today's nail art, I want to inform you all that I've finally joined Instagram! I've only posted a few photos so far but I'm quite enjoying it! So if you haven't already, follow me (username: kaylashevonne)!
Anyways, today's nail art is another Christmas design! I started with the idea of elf shoes because I thought they would look cute as a nail design, but the idea sort of evolved into this elf outfit mani instead. Even though it wasn't what I was originally going for, I think it's pretty cute, and I got a number of compliments on it when I was out Christmas shopping last night!
I first started with a coat of a white creme to create a good base for my design. I then used a striping brush and sectioned my nail down the middle. I filled one side in with China Glaze Def Defying and the other side with OPI Jade is the New Black.
I then used a small brush to create the elf's collar, once again with white polish to create a good base. I then filled that in with red (China Glaze Salsa). Finally, I added little bells to the collar using a medium sized dotting tool and OPI Goldeneye (review/swatches of the OPI Skyfall Collection coming soon).
One part of me kept thinking that I should add something extra such as buttons or a belt to the little elf outfits, but the other part of me kept saying that that would make everything a little too crowded. So, I left it as is. I think I made the right decision.
Did I ever mention how quickly OPI Jade is the New Black wears? Because I change my nail polish so often, I rarely get chips, just a little tip wear most times. But I've only been wearing this mani for one full day and already I have two chips - both on the sides of my nails that Jade is the New Black is on. It's a great colour, but I hate short-wearing polishes.
Anyways, I'm off to have one last day of Christmas shopping and then I'll be done! Have you finished your shopping yet?
