Christmas Nail Art - Watercolour Candy Canes

Hey guys!

I have some new Christmas nail art for you today! However, I'm going to need your help with this one because I personally can't decide if I love it or if I absolutely hate it. We've all had those type of manicures before, right? And I have a holiday party to attend tomorrow so I want to have a pretty manicure!

To create this look, I started with two coats of a white creme polish. I added a coat of Seche Vite to that and allowed it to dry.

I then created a watercolour look using acetone, a large nail art brush, China Glaze Merry Berry and China Glaze Holly-Day. When that was done and dry, I added candy cane stripes using my striping brush and the same white polish I used as the base (Wet 'n' Wild French White).

I know myself well enough to know that because I'm not totally happy with this mani, I'll probably end up changing it later tonight. This idea seemed really cool in theory, but I'm not as pleased with the outcome as I had expected.

On a side note, you'd never guess that one of my nails here is cracked, right? Well the outside corner of my index nail is! Fortunately I was able to salvage it using Orly Nail Rescue and it's holding up perfectly! That stuff is amazing.

Thanks for looking!

  4. Love the holiday colour choices but not so much the finished result. I think it would have been more interesting without the white stripes on top.
What if you tried the "saran wrap" sponging technique but with xmas colours?

  7. I think it looks really interesting, but I thought the green and red was like a flower pattern, either way I think it's very cool :D
