So you've probably all heard that Hard Candy has just released 45 new polishes to be sold within Wal-Mart stores. They're spread out among 5 collections, and today I have a few shades from the Candy Sprinkles Collection to share with you. I'm calling this Part I because I only have four of the polishes right now, but I do plan on picking up the remaining ones once they reach a Wal-Mart in my area, and I'll be sure to post about them then.
The Hard Candy Candy Sprinkles Collection is basically the same concept as the Nails Inc. Sprinkles Collection, which incidentally I posted about just last week. They feature coloured bases packed with a few different colours of small, consistently sized glitters. I really loved the Nails Inc. Sprinkles polishes, so I'm happy to see a cheaper alternative that also offers a few extra shade options.
Cocoa Smore is a nude/taupe base with black and silver glitter throughout. Its's an exact dupe for Nails Inc. Sugar House Lane. I liked that one a lot, so it's obvious that I like this one as well. The formula was really easy to work with and my swatch shows two coats.
Cotton Candy Pink is a light, milky pink base with blurple (blue/purple) and silver glitters. It really does remind me of cotton candy! Yum! The formula was great and my I've shown two coats.
Peach Pop is a medium peach base with magenta, orange and silver glitters. This one is my favourite of the four I've tried so far. I just really love the colour combination here. The formula was great and I only needed two coats.
Pixie Pink is a pale lavender base with pink, blue and silver glitter throughout. This is similar to Nails Inc. Sweets Way, but the two are definitely not dupes. The glitter colours are just about the same, but Sweets Way has more of a milky, pale blue base. The formula was once again great and my swatch shows two coats.
Now, let's talk price. All of the new Hard Candy polishes will be sold for $3.97 each. I'm hoping that's the same price for us here in Canada, but I'm not sure about that. That seems like a great price, but when you factor in the size, it's actually not as great as it seems.
Let's break it down: each bottle is 0.26 oz, which is just about half the size of a regular sized nail polish (0.50 oz). So in reality, if these were full-sized, they would cost about $8 a piece, which isn't that much of a bargain for a drugstore polish. Luckily, 0.26 oz is more than enough for most of us, so I'm happy to pay $4 instead of $8. I still wish they were either bigger or cheaper, though.
Price aside, I'm pretty happy with the Candy Sprinkles Collection. I'm excited to try the others, especially the minty green one.
Have the new Hard Candy polishes shown up at your Wal-Mart yet? Which ones do you plan on picking up?
