Simple Splatter Mani - Featuring piCture pOlish Voodoo

Good afternoon!

So, you guys remember that I was feeling a little under the weather last week, right? Well, it was just a mild cold, and it seemed to go away pretty quickly, but late last night it came back with a vengeance. I spent most of the night miserable and unable to sleep. This happens to me every year around this time though. In fact, whenever the seasons are changing, I tend to get a cold. Gah, I'm so annoyed. Go away, cold!

Anyways, luckily enough, I painted my nails yesterday afternoon, so I'm still able to post my piCture pOlish post on time! This is actually the last of the weekly piCture pOlish posts, which bums me out because they've become a part of my weekly blogging routine and I've loved testing out new piCture pOlish shades!

This last one is called Voodoo and it's a maroon-brown with lots of fiery golden-orange shimmer.

In terms of the formula, Voodoo applied really nicely. It was a little on the thick side, but not in a bad way. Two coats provided perfect coverage.

Of course I had to add some nail art, but I didn't want to add anything that would overwhelm the pretty shimmer of Voodoo, so I decided to go with a splatter mani. My first choice of colour for the splatter was white, but I found that a little too stark, so I went with a beige/nude polish instead (OPI My Vampire is Buff).

Some people use straws to create their splatter manis, but I've always used coffee stir sticks. I like the resulting splatters so much more this way!

piCture pOlish is available online at the piCture pOlish store. They do ship internationally, but there's also many network members all over the world whom you can purchase from. 1. Get better soon! And of course I love the mani... :)

  2. What a gorgeous color, and I love the splatter mani, very cool :)
And hope you feel better soon!

  3. That's a great color! Hope you feel better soon.

  4. This is a gorgeous polish and I love the way you did your splatter effect.

  5. Love the simple splatter, the contrast between the two colours makes such an impact. Awesome.

  6. I use regular straws but I just get blobs of polish, not really splatter. I'll have to try it out with coffee stir sticks next time.

    1. Definitely give it a try! The holes are much smaller, so not near as much polish comes shooting out.

  7. Good idea with choosing a beige colour over the white, I agree it's more complimentary. Also I think Voodoo would be a wonderful work-friendly colour.

  8. Looks great. Nail polish have very pretty color. The splatter I like better your look. Can you tell me more about haw you do it. I'm very interested because I only now haw to do it using straws.

    1. Thanks!

Here's a quick and easy rundown of how I do the splatter: I grab a handful (or two or three) of coffee stir sticks from a fast food place (I don't drink coffee, so I don't have stir sticks at home). I blob a drop of polish onto a post-it note (or any piece of scrap paper), dip one end of the stir stick into the polish, aim it at my nail, and blow a short burst of air through the other end. Voila!

      Hope that helps!
