Bold Colour Block Nails - butter LONDON Colour Clash Nail Art

What kind of nail blogger would I be if I didn't create a fun mani for International Nail Art Day?!

All of us nail art enthusiasts have Nails by Mimi to thank for setting up #INAD. What a great idea for a holiday! Check out INAD on both Twitter and Instagram for more info.

I was swatching the butter LONDON Colour Clash Collection today and realized that the colours would all work really well together for a colour block mani! I'll have full swatches of this collection up for you soon, but for now this mani will serve as a sneak peak. :)

The base colour here is butter LONDON Cotton Buds and then I used the remaining colours from the collection (Cake Hole, Giddy Kippers, Pimms, Silly Billy and Wellies) to create the blocks of colour.

Although I used a striping brush to create the colour blocks, most colour block designs such as this one would typically use striping tape or scotch tape to get cleaner lines. But as I've said before, I don't really like using tape in my nail art designs, simply because I'm impatient and hate waiting for polish to dry in order to actually use the tape. Plus, I find that my hand is steady enough that I can get decently straight lines by just doing it freehand.

Be sure to share your own International Nail Art Day manicures by using the #INAD hashtag!

Thanks for looking!

  4. Thanks! My best tip for horizontal lines (I find them the hardest) is to keep the brush steady and rotate your finger to get the straightest lines. Also, don't be afraid to go back in with the base colour (white in this case) to clean up any imperfections. :)

  6. Mmm, I am such a big fan of color blocking. I haven't tried mixing bright, bold colors like this, but I think it looks really fantastic!
