Pick My Wedding Nails! Choice #3 - Subtle Floral

Good morning!

Today I have another possible wedding mani to share with you! If anyone missed the info in the first post, I'll give you a quick recap: I'm getting married on November 15th (omg it's so soon!) and I want you guys to help me choose my bridal manicure. I'll be posting a few designs during the month (the first and second choices have already been posted here and here respectively) and then when I've posted them all, I'll ask you all to pick your favourite.

Today's design again features stamping. I don't do a lot of stamping, but I think that there's a lot of really nice, delicate and feminine options available for bridal nails with stamping. Plus, stamping offers a consistency that let's face it, even the best nail artists can't always emulate.

For this design, I started out with a base of OPI Don't Touch my Tutu, which is a nice sheer milky white nude - definitely a very wedding appropriate polish . Once that was completely dry, I stamped over it using the floral design from Konad m71 and Konad Special Polish in White. I then topped the design off with a coat of Seche Vite.

My first idea was actually to do the stamping in silver, but after having practiced that on a nail wheel, it turns out that the silver just doesn't show up enough. I'm going for a subtle look here, but not quite that subtle.

Admittedly, this design is similar in style to my last one. However, I definitely prefer this floral pattern to the other one - it feels more delicate and wedding-y to me. Plus, I think this base colour is far better for the occasion; it's more me and definitely more appropriate for my whole look. Speaking of the whole look, I really wish I could show you guys a picture of my dress so that you could really picture it all together, but I just can't risk David seeing it!

This is by far my personal favourite of the three I've shown so far. What do you guys think?

Polish Alcoholic - Intergalactic Dust, Morning Sunrise & Zoisite

Hey there!

Today I've got a few swatches from a new-to-me indie brand called Polish Alcoholic. Let's get right to it!

Although I usually show my swatches in alphabetical order, the first one I'm showing you today is called Zoisite because I used this one as the base for the remaining two shades.

Zoisite is a cornflower blue creme. It dries sort of matte so I suggest adding top coat if you want a shiny finish. The formula was good and I've shown two coats in my swatch.

Intergalactic Dust is a sheer silver holo. I found it a bit too sheer to wear on its own (especially when you have slightly yellowed nails beds like myself), so I chose to layer it over Zoisite. What's great about holo shades like this is that they can be layered over just about anything and add a lovely holo effect. The formula was great and I used one coat over Zoisite.

Morning Sunrise is a colour shifting shimmering top coat. The shimmers shift from blue to green to gold, which really compliments Zoisite. The formula was really easy to work with and I only needed one coat over Zoisite to provide this much sparkle.

Overall, I do like the three shades I was provided. I wish I had gotten to try one of the thermal shades so if anyone picks one of those up, I'd love to know what you think!

Polish Alcoholic shades can be purchased from the Polish Alcoholic Etsy shop. The bottles are all 10ml and the prices vary slightly based on the type of polish.

You can connect with Polish Alcoholic via many forms of social media, but instead of bombarding you with all of them, I'll just leave a link to the Polish Alcoholic blog and you can go from there.

Thanks for stopping by!

piCture pOlish Leggings & Super Styling - A Different Way to Wear Them

Recently luck came my way and I was fortunate enough to be selected as the winner of piCture pOlish's Facebook giveaway for their new limited edition leggings and accompanying polish!

I had been going back and forth about purchasing them myself, but with the wedding coming up in just one month, I had to give them a pass. So as you can imagine, I was incredibly excited when piCture pOlish contacted me and let me know that I had won!

I impatiently kept track of the shipment and when they finally arrived, I loved the leggings even more than I thought I could. But the problem was that I couldn't actually see myself wearing them out and about because they just seemed too special to me! So I had a stroke of brilliance (ok maybe not brilliance, but I liked the idea) and decided to make the leggings/polish duo a piece of art in my nail room!

Lots more photos after the jump!

Bright & Colourful Halloween Mani - Bundle Monster Nail Art Contest Inspired

Before I get to today's post, I must point out that tomorrow is my 26th birthday! I might not get a chance to post, but birthday wishes will be well received, hehe. :D

Anyways, I've been really inspired to play around with stamping lately, mostly because this year I'm one of the judges for Bundle Monster's Halloween Nail Art Contest! I've participated in one of Bundle Monster's Nail Art Contests before (and won!), so it was really cool to be offered the opportunity to participate this year in a whole different way.

So, to (hopefully) help inspire some of you to enter this awesome contest, I've created a fun Halloween manicure below using some of the Bundle Monster products I own.

I wanted the base of my manicure to have more visual interest than just a solid colour provides, so I decided to create a two-toned base for all of my nails. First off, I laid down one coat of a white creme polish so that the other colours would really pop. Then I just used the polish brushes to paint each nail two different colours. Because I knew I would be stamping over it, I didn't pay too much attention to the straightness of the lines or if they were perfectly centered.

The purple I used is Color Club Pucc-licious, the orange is Zoya Arizona and the green is Orly Fresh. To speed up the drying process before stamping, I added a coat of Seche Vite.

After waiting about 30 minutes (during which I worked on the seating chart for my wedding), I added the stamping using one of the cut glass type images from BM-208 to all of my nails except the ring nail, to which I added the skull and bones design from BM-225. The stamping was done using Konad Special Polish in Black. I let the stamping dry for just a couple of minutes before adding a final coat of Seche Vite.

I really love how this design turned out! I wouldn't say it would be first prize worthy, but I had fun creating it and it's gotten me a bunch of compliments already.

Speaking of prizes, the grand prize for winning Bundle Monster's Nail Art Contest is worth over $150, so I highly encourage all of you talented nail art enthusiasts to enter! I've had so much fun perusing the entries already and I'd absolutely love to see more!

The deadline for submissions is October 15th, so you still have a few days to put a design together! Check out Bundle Monster's Facebook page for more information and all of the contest rules.

Thanks for looking!

piCture pOlish - Siren Song by Rebecca Likes Nails

Hey guys!

I have a super special post today! I'm showing you one of the newest piCture pOlish Collaboration Shades and this one is especially special because it was created in collaboration with my good friend Rebecca from Rebecca Likes Nails!

Some of you might not know this, but Rebecca and I live in the same city so we actually get to hang out and she's even coming to my wedding! So she dropped over last night with a bottle of her collaboration polish so that I could post about it today. I was actually going to purchase a bottle myself, but this works out better because I don't have to impatiently wait to it to arrive in the mail, haha.
